Shepherd's Pie

Ingredients:
15 ml spoon oil
1/2 onion, chopped finely
1 carrot, chopped finely
125 g extra-lean mince
5 ml spoon tomato puree
a dash of Worcestershire sauce
4 x 5 ml spoons gravy granules, made up with 250 ml boiling water
50 g frozen peas
1/2 x 93 g instant mashed potato, made up with 200 ml boiling water and 15 g butter
a little extra butter for the top
salt and pepper
Instructions:
- Heat the oil in a frying pan and saute the onion and carrot until soft. Add the mince and brown quickly.
- Add the tomato puree, Worcestershire sauce, gravy, and peas. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Preheat the grill while making up the mashed potato.
- Season the mince and place in a small greased pie dish and cover with the potato. Rough up the surface with a fork, and dot with butter. Grill for 5-10 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes:
- Mince = ground beef/hamburger
- Usually make without the onions and peas
- Adding a can of sweet corn boosts the flavor well.
- Make more potatoes than you think.
- Can use a package of dried brown gravy or beef gravy instead of the gravy granules
